What You Will Do

Job Summary:

Maintain, diagnose, and correct problems in various mechanical, electromechanical, and hydraulic systems throughout the facility.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Install, test, maintain, repair, replace and dismantle complex pieces of industrial machinery and mechanical equipment in accordance with blueprints, diagrams, sketches, operation manuals and manufacturer’s specifications.

  • Fabricate, assemble, and install various types of specialized equipment and attachments.

  • Maintain, diagnose, and correct problems in electric, forklifts, various piping systems for complex pieces of industrial machinery and mechanical equipment, steam, water, heating, cooling, lubricating, pneumatic, hydraulic systems, and various high pressure piping systems throughout the facility.

  • Install, adjust, and replace conveyor belts.

  • Replace motors, repair mechanical problems, and perform scheduled PMs.

  • Work with tobacco processing, manufacturing, conveying, and shipping systems throughout the plant including DIET processes, Blending, Cutting, Menthol, material handling forklifts, plug delivery systems, and other areas.

  • Make repairs/install replacement solenoid valves, hoses, etc.

  • Perform welding, cutting, and modifications to equipment as needed to perform job tasks.

  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Minimum Qualifications :

Education and Experience:

  • Completion of an approved apprenticeship program, trade school or military training and 5+ years related millwright/mechanic experience

  • Satisfactorily pass a sample shop test

  • Must be 21 years of age or older

Knowledge of:

  • Basic computer skills

  • Basic math skills

Skilled in:

  • Verbal and written communication

  • Attention to detail

  • Problem/situation analysis

  • Effective time and task management

Ability to:

  • Work with supervision, receiving instructions/feedback, coaching/counseling and/or action/discipline

  • Work independently or part of a team; ability to interact appropriately with others.

  • Demonstrate critical thinking

  • Receive and communicate information orally and in writing

  • Prioritize assignments, workload, and manage time accordingly

  • Work any of 3 shifts and overtime, including weekends and holidays as necessary

Preferred Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Completion of an approved apprenticeship or trade school graduate.

  • Pipefitter experience:

  • Experience with maintaining Power Plant equipment ex. (Boilers, Air Compressors, Chillers, Air Washes, and Cooling Towers)

  • Pipe fitting work such as pipe threading, soldering, and using pro-press equipment

  • Install, adjust, and repair conveyor belts

Work Environment and Physical Demand

  • Requires heavy physical effort. Occasionally lifts or moves light objects (up to 100 lbs.)

  • Walks, sits, or stands for prolonged periods

  • Reach and grasps objects and hand eye coordination required

  • May be required to stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl

  • Walks, sits, or stands for prolonged periods

  • Use of manual dexterity and fine motor skills

  • Requires prolonged machine operation including computer and keyboard equipment

  • Risk for occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens

  • Exposure to uncomfortable work environment due to extreme temperature, noise level, and other conditions including second-hand smoke and/or vape
